The famous Boston innovation centre (Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT) has signed an agreement with Assindustria Vicenza - with the financial support of Banca Popolare di Vicenza and Studio Adacta - that provides for the possibility for companies to establish direct collaborations with Massachusetts researchers to carry out investigations related to their core business. But there is more: the agreement also provides support for hiring and consulting MIT students and graduates through research grants, summer jobs and work placements. Participants are also entitled to access MIT's databases and scientific archives, to attend master's degrees and educational programmes, and to evaluate the possible applications of the latest scientific findings in business and economics. At the forefront, among the participating companies, is Mevis: interested in process and material innovations - which can be difficult to manage within the company by the R&D department -, thanks to the agreement with MIT, the company has already had the opportunity to exchange views with a 35-year-old professor who has demonstrated a knowledge of welding that exceeds all expectations.
